Hover Strike: Unconquered Lands on Wikipedia

Hover Strike: Unconquered Lands is a shooter video game developed and published by Atari Corporation exclusively for the Atari Jaguar CD in North America and Europe on October 23, 1995. A remake of Hover Strike for the Atari Jaguar, it was created by most of the original team who worked on the original game and both titles share the same overall plot, where the Terrakian alien race seized control of a colonized foreign planet and players are tasked with piloting an armed hovercraft vehicle in an attempt of rescuing the captured colonists and destroy the invading forces from the planet's surface before the Federation armada arrives.

The cartridge game with textures and CD audio — and the same floaty handling underneath.

The CD follow-up to the Hover Strike cartridge: new terrain, texture-mapped environments, CD soundtrack, unchanged float. Era reviews spread almost as wide as Val d'Isère's — from 8/10 to 39/100 depending on the outlet. Preservation footnote: the game's source code was released publicly in 2008, a rarity for commercial software of this era, and part of why the Jaguar homebrew scene became as technically capable as it did.

One of the cheaper discs. Test-played on hardware or discounted — the format's error-correction weakness makes "light scratches, plays fine" a claim, not a fact.
