A faithful game-show conversion whose letter-by-letter answer entry wears thin.

Jeopardy! on the N64 follows the television format, with Alex Trebek presenting 4,000 questions. Its developer is GameTek, Take-Two Interactive published it, and it came out in North America in February 1998.

GamePro's November 1997 review called it a fine trivia test but questioned whether it belonged on the N64 at all, and found that entering answers a letter at a time gets tedious, though the game helps by suggesting the phrase it thinks you are typing. GameTek has said the game loses track of which questions it has already used each time the console is turned off. Electronic Gaming Monthly listed it among party games.

How it was made

Developed by GameTek and published by Take-Two Interactive.

What the press said at the time

“While Jeopardy can't exactly stand up to StarFox 64, gamers interested in exercising their brains more than their trigger fingers will enjoy it.”

— GamePro, November 1997

“N64 graphics have never looked so primitive. … A sorry excuse for a computer game.”

— N64 Magazine, June 1998

“The game is irritatingly too American, too bland and definitely a bore.”

— Total 64, 1998

Before you buy

This is the North American cartridge, and the game came out only in North America. Loose copies sit below the middle of the library, and a complete copy costs several times a loose one. Fake risk is low.
