A forgettable licensed fighter for the Genesis, cheap in North America and much dearer in Europe.
Justice League Task Force is a competitive fighting game for the Genesis, developed by Condor (later Blizzard North) and published by Acclaim. Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Arrow, The Flash and Aquaman are playable. It came out in PAL territories in June 1995, in Japan on 1 September 1995 and in North America in 1995.
Reviews of the Genesis version were lukewarm. Gamefan called it the epitome of averageness, with graphics drawn nothing like the comic book heroes and only fair music. Electronic Gaming Monthly criticized the choppy animation, the limited moves and especially the poor controls, and GamePro thought it was real normal rather than awful.
What the press said at the time
“This 24-meg toady features the most stilted action imaginable, with solid but sparsely animated sprites going through the motions in an untaxing and unoriginal beat 'em up.”
How the Sega Genesis version differs
Electronic Gaming Monthly's reviewers scored the Genesis version 5.875 out of 10, criticizing the choppy animation, limited moves and poor controls.
GameFan called the Genesis version the epitome of averageness, with comic-book heroes drawn nothing like their originals and gameplay of mostly fireballs and charging moves.
