About NBA Live 2000

The NBA Live series of basketball video games, published by EA Sports, is currently one of the leading National Basketball Association simulations on the market. Starting from NBA Live 2000, the series featured NBA Live Legend All-Stars Teams, that included some biggest names from five decades (50s to 90s). These teams could be used instantly, but to use the players as regular players (e.g. traded, played on regular NBA Teams) they needed to be unlocked. Along the series, some of the rosters were changed due to many reasons as Michael Jordan was on the 90's team through 2004.

EA's second and final NBA Live on N64 is a middling basketball game, and one of the cheapest carts in the library.

This is the Nintendo 64 version of NBA Live 2000, developed by NuFX and published by EA Sports, released in North America in October 1999 and in PAL regions in December 1999. It was the second and last NBA Live on the N64.

Reviews were mixed. AllGame's Anthony Baize called it probably the best basketball simulation on the N64 in the late 1990s and a must for series fans, while N64 Magazine's Martin Kitts said dedicated Michael Jordan fans would enjoy it but it was not the basketball game for everyone else. GamePro's reviewer found it imperfect but satisfying, and another reviewer cited weak graphics and a useless Arcade mode.

“This game is much smoother, and much more like basketball, than the dunk-fest that Live usually is. Throw in the three-point shootout and the MJ one-on-one, and NBA Live '00 is the best b-ball on N64.”

— Game Informer, December 1999

“Graphically, Live 2000 is polished. The player models look great: according to their position. … Because of the cart format, however, Live has enough room only for Don Poier's play-byplay, which he calls in accurate, yet repetitive, detail”

— GamePro, December 1999

Before you buy

Fake risk is low. Loose copies are among the cheapest in the library, and a complete copy costs about four times the loose price. PAL copies cost several times as much as the US cart loose and more than twice as much complete.
