A repetitive road racer that Mean Machines called merely average, though Console XS rated it highly.
Out Run Europa is a spin-off of Sega's 1986 arcade game Out Run, developed by Probe Software and published by U.S. Gold. The Master System version came out only in Europe. The levels are set across Europe, and you escape the police using a range of vehicles, from Ferrari and Porsche sports cars to motorbikes and jet skis.
Reviews split. Mean Machines Sega, reviewing the Game Gear version, said it kept the problems of the Master System game the magazine had reviewed a year earlier: repetitive gameplay with little difference between levels beyond the graphics, which it called dull with a jerky 3D effect, while Console XS gave the Master System version a high score.
What the press said at the time
| Sega Master Force Issue 5 | November 1993 | 87% |
“OutRun Europa puts you in control of many different vehicles, from motorcycles to jetskis, in an attempt to thwart an evil terrorist organisation. Sadly, this "variety" doesn't save the game from being a frus¬ trating, bland and desperately mediocre game. With crap graphics.”
“A racing game with bells on! … Fast, flicker-free graphics and a real challenge.”
How the Sega Master System version differs
Console XS reviewed this version and gave it 90%.

- ZX Spectrum. Your Sinclair gave the Spectrum version 83%, praising its big sprites and smooth animation.
