About Puyo Puyo~n
This game was released only in Japan. It is the fourth game in the Puyo Puyo series and the last set during the Madou-era in the main series. Continuing the trend of naming the games after puns, the name comes from a pun on "yon", the Japanese word for the number 4, but this time this is the only reference to the pun. The gameplay in is similar to that of Puyo Puyo 2, but adds super attacks. Clearing chains now builds up a "charge meter" which allows players to use them. The only other addition was a new game mode which could be played with a number of different field sizes, smaller or bigger than the standard 6x12, however, it removes several game modes that were present in Puyo Puyo Sun, i.e. the tournament, task and chain training modes. The art is also vastly different to the previous game in the series and, of course, the Fever series; this style was only otherwise used for Minna de Puyo Puyo.

The N64 version of Puyo Puyo~n, a Japan-only falling-block puzzler that keeps four-player play.
Puyo Puyo~n Party is the N64 release of Puyo Puyo~n, also known as Puyo Puyo 4, the fourth game in Compile's Puyo Puyo series. It came out on the N64 in Japan on December 3, 1999; the game was also made for the Dreamcast, PlayStation and Game Boy Color.
Compared with the Dreamcast version, the N64 version has different music and no voiced cutscenes, but it keeps four-player multiplayer.
How it was made
Developed and published by Compile.
How the Nintendo 64 version differs
The N64 version supports the Transfer Pak, letting players view artwork unlocked in Pocket Puyo Puyo SUN, some of which can only be unlocked by linking the two games.
Also on other platforms
Dreamcast · PlayStation · Game Boy Color
- PlayStation. The PlayStation version, Puyo Puyo~n: Kaa-kun to Issho, has the same music as the Dreamcast game but supports only two players.
- Game Boy Color. Pocket Puyo Puyo~n for Game Boy Color is vastly different from the home versions, with more characters and no Special Rule boards or different grid sizes.
Before you buy
This is the Japanese cartridge, and the game came out only in Japan. Loose copies sit around the middle of the Japan-only group and a little below the 1999 median. A complete copy costs more than twice a loose one. Fake risk is low.
