About Rolling Thunder 2
A terrorist group has taken out the world information flow and, as either a guy named Albert Ross or a woman named Leila, you must stop them. You can also get cool weapons that pack more of a punch than your ordinary hand gun. Also RT2 is a password supported game, so in other words you get a password at the end of each round so if you loss all your lives, you can continue from the end of that round, very handy.

A close Genesis conversion of Namco's arcade run-and-gun, with extra levels, and one of the pricier US carts.
Rolling Thunder 2 began as a 1991 Namco arcade run-and-gun, the sequel to Rolling Thunder from 1986. Namco published the Genesis cartridge in Japan on 19 November 1991 and in North America in January 1992, and Sega published it in Europe in April 1993.
Mean Machines found the Megadrive conversion astonishingly close to the coin-op, with nearly identical backdrops, sprites, tunes and effects, and said it improved on the arcade game by adding levels. Sega Force liked the well-defined characters and large end-level bosses.

“A brilliant and exciting game which is well worth the money! Check it out - but”
“Two-player simultaneous games are always a welcome addition to the Genesis library. Add scrolling and improved character mobility and Namco would have a major hit. As it is, it's a pretty good game.”
“An enjoyable platform-based shoot 'em up romp on the arcade game of the same name. With two-player action, a tough challenge and a neat password sys tem, this is well worth checking out.”
“Not bad at all, but not in the same league as Revenge Of Shinobi, Chakan or the Disney games”

How the Sega Genesis version differs
Mean Machines called the Mega Drive conversion astonishingly close to the coin-op and said it improved on it by adding levels.
The Japanese import cartridge would not run on UK or American Mega Drives, even with a converter, and needed a Japanese SCART machine.

- Arcade. The arcade game added two-player cooperative play and improved graphics over the original Rolling Thunder, along with an optionally playable female character.
Before you buy
Among US carts it is one of the pricier ones, well above the middle. The European cart usually costs much less than the US one, while the Japanese cart usually costs more and has a different cartridge shape. A complete US copy means the case, cartridge and manual.
