A Japan-only Sailor Moon beat-'em-up port with a price well above the middle for Japanese carts.

Bishōjo Senshi Sailor Moon was developed by Arc System Works and TNS and published by Ma-Ba for the Mega Drive in Japan on 8 July 1994. It is a port of the 1993 Super NES side-scrolling beat-'em-up with various changes. Critics gave both versions a mixed reception, though Animerica thought the Mega Drive graphics better than those of earlier Sailor Moon games on the Super NES.

What the press said at the time

“This game should please many female gamers out there who are insulted by the misrepresentation of sexes in games. But hey, guys should check it out too! Sailor Moon is an interesting cart for the Mega Drive.”

— Electronic Gaming Monthly, July 1994

Before you buy

This is a Japanese Mega Drive cartridge. Its shape differs from a Western cart, so it needs an adapter or two plastic tabs removed from a Western console's slot. Among Japan-only carts it is one of the pricier ones and the risk tier is Medium, so ask for a photo of the board before paying.
