About Superman: The New Superman Adventures

The game is based on the television series Superman: The Animated Series. The notorious Superman 64, now a cheap cart.

Superman: The New Superman Adventures, commonly called Superman 64, is a 1999 action-adventure developed and published by Titus Interactive. It is based on Superman: The Animated Series, and in the story Lex Luthor traps Jimmy Olsen, Lois Lane and Professor Hamilton in a virtual-reality Metropolis. The N64 game took two years to develop, and it was the first 3D Superman video game.

GameFan's November 1997 preview predicted a memorable game. Reaction after release was grim: Electronic Gaming Monthly's 2002 review of a later Superman game called it a far cry from the horrifying N64 Superman game of yore, and in 2003 the magazine called another licensed game the worst since Superman for the N64.

“An utterly hopeless, consistently appalling leper of a 'game'. Bordering on the illegal.”

— N64 Magazine, August 1999

Before you buy

The US cartridge sits below the library median and the fake risk is low. The game saves to a Controller Pak, not to the cartridge, so budget for one. PAL copies cost somewhat more, loose and complete. A complete copy costs about five times the loose price, and sealed copies far more again, so a loose cartridge is all most players need.
