A Japan-only Tetris built around an ear-clip heart-rate sensor and the only four-player Tetris of its day on the N64.

Tetris 64 was developed by Amtex and published by SETA, released only in Japan on November 13, 1998. It came packaged with the Bio Sensor, an accessory that clips to the ear and reads the player's heart rate through the controller's expansion port so the game can adapt. It is the only N64 game that works with the Bio Sensor.

Reception praised its multiplayer: it was the only N64 Tetris game at the time to support four players, until The New Tetris added the feature a year later. Computer and Video Games listed it in its N64 import chart in January 1999.

What the press said at the time

“The Bio feedback could have saved it — it doesn't seem to have much effect, though. Stick with the Game Boy version.”

— N64 Magazine, March 1999

Before you buy

This is the Japanese cartridge, the only release. A loose copy sits above the library median for Japan-only games and the fake risk is low. Because the game was packaged with the Bio Sensor, ask a seller whether it is included. A complete copy costs about double the loose price.
