A middling Simpsons platformer on the Genesis that critics found sloppy.
The Simpsons: Bart's Nightmare came to the Genesis after the Super NES version, developed by Sculptured Software. North America got it in August 1993 and Europe in October 1993. The first half has Bart hunting for his missing homework pages to escape a dream world and the second half is a set of minigames.
Game Players was disappointed, finding the graphics amateurish and the control imprecise, with music that was dull.
What the press said at the time
“This is one Nightmare that never seemed to end on the SNES, and now it's on the Genesis.”
“"Windy World" is repetitive, and "Temple of Maggie' is impossible, but the rest are a treat.”
How the Sega Genesis version differs
The Genesis version arrived a year after the Super NES original, released in 1993 rather than 1992.

- Super NES. Super Gamer reviewed the SNES version and said it looks as good as the cartoon but plays irritatingly tough.
Before you buy
Among US carts it sits above the middle. The European cart usually costs more than the US one, and a complete European copy costs noticeably more. A complete US copy means the case, the cartridge and the manual.
