The one Virtual Boy game that would stand on its own on any console — and the platform's best argument for itself.
The Virtual Boy has a single undisputed masterpiece, and the community broadly agrees on which one. Wario Land holds the highest rating on the platform by a wide margin — a full-length R&D1 Wario platformer that treats the stereoscopic display as a real mechanic, not a gimmick: foreground and background are separate playfields, and Wario moves between them. Nothing else on the system justifies the hardware this well.
Its price says something too — it is one of the cheapest genuinely great games in retro collecting, because demand here was always collector demand, and its Switch Online release barely moved the cartridge market.

Two variants matter. The North American Not-For-Resale cart (store-demo stock) is scarcer than retail and often listed by sellers who don't realise what they have. A Japanese demonstration version exists too. Reproductions are rare — the retail cart is cheap enough that faking it isn't worth the effort.
