About Wheel of Fortune
This game is an interactive version of the popular U.S. quiz show Wheel of Fortune complete with hostess Vanna White. The game is played by trying to find a hidden word with only a few guesses allowed for the letters which is very similar to the pen and paper game Hangman. The other round which features the Wheel of Fortune involves you spinning the wheel which has various prizes both good and bad and whatever the pointer stops on when it stops revolving is what the player wins. This can be cash, a free spin or if you're very unlucky Bankruptcy which means you lose all the money you've earned up to that point.

A faithful-looking game-show cart that period magazines recommended as a party pick, and a very cheap one to own.
Wheel of Fortune on the Nintendo 64 was developed by GameTek and published by Take-Two Interactive in North America on December 2, 1997. Take-Two had acquired GameTek's assets in mid-1997, including the right to make Wheel of Fortune games for the N64, and this was its first Wheel game on the system. The N64 game features full-motion video footage of the show's host and shipped 185,000 units.
Reviews generally said it did not hold up well against other N64 games but did a decent job of recreating the show, particularly the camera movements and the 3D studio. GamePro's December 1997 holiday guide recommended it among the puzzle games, and Electronic Gaming Monthly's February 1998 issue listed it as a party favorite.
What the press said at the time
| Total 64 Issue 13 | 1998 | 13% |
“If Wheel of Fortune is to be done on a console, this is about as good as it's going to get.”
“With games coming out extremely slowly and Nintendo citing quality over quantity, WOF will do more damage than good”
Before you buy
This is a North American release only. The loose cartridge is cheap and the fake risk is low. The Rumble Pak is optional. A complete copy costs a few times the loose price, and a sealed copy several times the complete price, so a loose cart is the easy way to play.
