The EA college football game that finally brought in every Division I-A school, and one of the cheapest US carts around.
College Football USA 96 is the follow-up to Bill Walsh College Football '95, made by High Score Entertainment for EA Sports and released in North America in 1995. With Walsh retired from coaching, the game dropped his name. It includes all 108 Division I-A teams of the day and real bowl games, the Orange, Sugar, Fiesta and Rose.
GamePro called it the most authentic and in-depth Genesis college football cart yet, citing the challenging AI, the huge team selection and the many new features.
What the press said at the time
“The good news is all of the graphics have been redone and the visuals are about as good as the Genesis gets.”
“New features and more than 100 teams make EA’s College Football USA '96 the most authentic and in-depth Genesis college football cart yet.”
Before you buy
Among US carts it sits below the middle, so it is an easy and cheap pickup. Sega Retro lists it as working with EA's 4 Way Play. A complete US copy means the case, cartridge and manual.
