A rough console port of Midway's arcade racer that reviewers found shallow, yet a loose cart still costs more than most of the library.
This is the Nintendo 64 version of Cruis'n Exotica, the third game in the Cruis'n series, ported from Midway's arcade game by Gratuitous Games and released in North America in October 2000. The console version stays close to the arcade game but changes the track layouts, drops fully licensed cars and adds more hidden vehicles.
Reviews were lukewarm. Electronic Gaming Monthly said it ran smoothly but suffered from heavy draw-in, GameSpot praised how smoothly it ran for the platform, and IGN complained that the play was nearly identical to its predecessors.
What the press said at the time
“The Cruis‘n series has taken baby steps from the word go. Simplistic and dull, don't even consider it.”
Before you buy
Games released in 2000 usually cost more than earlier ones, and this one is above the library median loose. Fake risk is low by the research tiers. Complete copies cost several times the loose price, and sealed ones more again, so a loose cart is the sensible way in. It was released in North America only.
