What it needs to play

  • Some modesSave battery (inside the cartridge) — saves to memory kept alive by a battery inside the cartridge; if that battery has died, saves are lost (MAME cartridge records).

How often it sells

  • Loose: rarely — fewer than one recorded sale a year

Prices marked “few sales” rest on about one recorded sale a year, so treat them as a rough guide: the next copy could sell well above or below. Expect to wait for one to come up.

A Falcom role-playing game ported to the Mega Drive by Sega, for RPG collectors.

Dragon Slayer: Eiyū Densetsu II is the second Legend of Heroes game in Nihon Falcom's Dragon Slayer series. It began on Japanese computers and reached other systems later; this Mega Drive version was published by Sega, with Sega Falcom credited as developer, on 20 January 1995. It came out only in Japan.

How the Sega Genesis version differs

The Mega Drive version, published by Sega on January 20, 1995, arrived after the PC Engine (December 1992) and Super Famicom (June 1993) versions.

  • MS-DOS. A Korean conversion of the original PC-9801 version was released for MS-DOS in 1996.
  • PlayStation. A bundle with updated versions of both The Legend of Heroes and The Legend of Heroes II came out in 1998 for PlayStation and Sega Saturn.

Before you buy

This is a Japanese cartridge, so its shape differs from a Western cart and it fits a Western console only with an adapter or after removing two plastic tabs in its slot. It saves to a battery inside the cartridge, so ask the seller to confirm a save holds; a replaced battery is a normal repair, not a sign of a fake. Ask for a photo of the board before paying.
