An inexpensive baseball game with real player names, interesting mostly as the follow-up to Major League Baseball Featuring Ken Griffey Jr.

Ken Griffey Jr.'s Slugfest was developed by Angel Studios and published by Nintendo, and it came out in North America in May 1999. It is a sequel to Major League Baseball Featuring Ken Griffey Jr. on N64, and unlike that game it uses actual player names. Modes are Season, Exhibition, World Series and Home Run Derby, and fielding uses the C buttons.

The N64 version received favorable reviews. A separate Game Boy Color game shares the name.

“After all, Griffey was and is a quick-paced and fun arcade offering, while ASB remains a hard-core sim. It looks like Slugfest will continue the arcade-style baseball tradition in high style when it's released this May.”

Before you buy

Fake risk is low. This is a North American release only. Loose copies sit below the library's median price, and a complete copy costs several times the loose price. Nintendo listed the Expansion Pak among enhancements, and the Rumble Pak is supported, but both are optional.
