— Mean Machines Sega, November 1993

“А superb golfing tournament for the MS. Plenty of effort has gone into the structure with fine graphics. and realistic stats.”

— Sega Pro, April 1995

The Sega Genesis version

The Genesis golf game that Mega ranked tenth among Mega Drive games in 1992, and one of the cheapest carts to pick up.

PGA Tour Golf on the Genesis is Electronic Arts' conversion of a computer game from Sterling Silver Software, released in North America in April 1991 and in Europe in May 1991. The Master System version on this page was later converted from this one.

Sega Pro rated Arnold Palmer Tournament Golf highly but said PGA Tour Golf plays a lot better. Mean Machines praised the Genesis version, multiplayer included, and VideoGames & Computer Entertainment admired its realism while finding the graphics weaker than Arnold Palmer's. In October 1992 Mega placed it tenth on its list of the best Mega Drive games of all time.

“As it is, PGA Tour Golf is still a thoroughly entertaining, challenging and complex golf simulation.”

— VideoGames & Computer Entertainment, May 1991

“Any golf video game that makes you a better golfer in real life must be good.”

— GamePro, May 1991

“Indeed, I might venture to say that PGA Tour Golf is the best golfing game you can get for either the Megadrive or the Amiga”

Before you buy

Among US carts it sits below the middle, so it is an easy cart to buy cheaply. The European cart usually costs less again, loose and complete. The cartridge keeps its saves in a battery inside it, so check that a save holds; a replaced battery is a normal repair, not a sign of a fake.
