About Pulseman
Pulseman is a platform game only released on cartridge for a Japanese audience, but was available to North American consumers via the Sega Channel. The game was not sold in Europe. It was developed by Game Freak, the development team that would later go on to produce the Pokémon series of games for Nintendo. Many of Pulseman's staff, including director Ken Sugimori and composer Junichi Masuda worked on both games.

A Game Freak platformer that reached North America only through Sega Channel.
Pulseman is a platformer from Game Freak, published by Sega on the Mega Drive in Japan on 22 July 1994. Sega Pro's coverage described the way he builds pulse energy from his dash attack and can turn into a sphere, the Voltaiker, to bounce at enemies. Junichi Masuda composed the music.
It reached North America only through the Sega Channel download service and was not released on a US cartridge (Sega Retro). Gamefan in 1997 called it a fine import platformer.

Before you buy
The cartridge to look for is the Japanese one, which has a different shape from a Western cart and needs an adapter or two plastic tabs removed from a Western console's slot. It sits above the middle of the group of games that have no US cartridge. Any US-style cartridge is a modern reproduction or homebrew cart, so for a copy at this price ask for a photo of the board.
