The middle of Mattel's three Tron games, a maze chase that sits behind Deadly Discs in most players' memory.

Mattel Electronics released Tron: Maze-A-Tron on October 6, 1982, shortly after the film, as the second of its three Intellivision Tron games and the company's 39th Intellivision title. A version with French-language titling was sold for French-speaking markets.

It is a single-player action game built on the film's maze theme. It is one of the less discussed carts in the library, and a buyer should expect a period curiosity rather than a headliner.

How it was made

Developed and published by Mattel Electronics for the Intellivision.

What the press said at the time

“This is without a doubt the most subtle, but also intriguing home arcade program yet inspired by last year's Disney videogame fantasy film, "Tron".”

— Electronic Games, June 1983

“Plunge into the inside of your favorite computer in this extremely clever-action adventure derived from last year's videogame fantasy film.”

— Electronic Games, September 1983

How the Intellivision version differs

In French-speaking markets the cartridge was sold under French titles, Tron: Le Labyrinthe or Le Labyrinthe de Tron.

Before you buy

Came with two keypad overlays. The box and manual carry much of a complete copy's value, and loose carts are among the cheaper Mattel originals. Nothing else needs checking beyond a normal test of the disc and keypad.
