A lively circus platformer on the Genesis that is cheap in the US and far dearer in Europe.
Aero the Acro-Bat is a Sunsoft platformer from Iguana Entertainment, released on the Genesis in North America in October 1993 and in Europe on 10 March 1995. Sunsoft worked on its Super NES and Genesis versions at the same time, and the Genesis game's bonus level is a vertical platform stage. You play a daredevil bat in the Big Top.
In late 1993 Sunsoft gave free copies to the first 100 people who sent a postcard. Game Players later noted that Aero's rival Zero had his own spinoff, Zero the Kamikaze Squirrel, coming for the Genesis.

How the Sega Genesis version differs
The Genesis bonus level is a vertical platform level, which Sunsoft replaced with a Mode 7 level for the Super NES.
The Genesis cartridge has no battery backup; the Game Boy Advance version added one.
The Super NES and Genesis versions were developed at the same time.

- Super NES. When Sunsoft converted the game for the Super NES, the bonus level became a straightforward Mode 7 level over an overworld map.
- Game Boy Advance. The Game Boy Advance version implemented a modified mission objective feature from the original concept.

Before you buy
Among US carts it sits about at the middle, so it is easy to buy in North America. The European cart usually costs much more than the US one, loose and complete, so the US cart is the one to look for. A complete US copy means the case, cartridge and manual.
