A dull licensed platformer from Europe that costs about what an average European cart does.

Captain Planet and the Planeteers came out only in Europe, on the Mega Drive in 1993, from Sega and developer NovaLogic. This version has four stages, one for each Planeteer except Ma-Ti, and a final stage in which you control Captain Planet against Zarm's barge.

Sega Pro gave the Mega Drive version a mixed review and called it dull and repetitive.

What the press said at the time

“Join the Planeteers in an all too typical platform adventure where good attempts to conquer evil. Captain Planet's star appearance is rather overshadowed by the dull and lifeless backgrounds.”
— Sega Pro, September 1994

How the Sega Genesis version differs

The Genesis version has four stages, one per Planeteer except Ma-Ti, and a countdown timer across the four ecovillain stages before a final Captain Planet stage.

Sega Pro gave the Genesis version a mixed 59 out of 100, and Sega Force Mega called it a lifeless platform game at 45.
