A licensed Marvel platformer, ordinary in price in the US and much dearer in Europe.

The Genesis version of Spider-Man and the X-Men in Arcade's Revenge was developed by Software Creations and published by Flying Edge, in North America in 1993 and in Europe in October 1993. Spider-Man and the X-Men fight to escape the villain Arcade's death trap, Murderworld.

What the press said at the time

“Spidey and the X-Men really didn't hit the spot with me. At times, I did find the basic platform formula entertaining, mainly on the Gambit and Spidey levels”

— MegaTech, November 1993

How the Sega Genesis version differs

The Genesis version was released under the Flying Edge brand, alongside a Game Gear version.

Super NES · Game Gear · Game Boy

  • Game Gear. Electronic Gaming Monthly gave the Game Gear version 6 out of 10, praising the choice of characters but finding it too difficult.
  • Super NES. Super Gamer scored the Super NES version 75%, calling the gameplay varied and tough with impressive graphics.
  • Game Boy. GamePro said the Game Boy version had good graphics but frustratingly imprecise controls, and made players re-solve a tedious level 1 maze every time they started.

Before you buy

Among US carts the loose cart sits about at the middle. The European cart usually costs much more than the US one, both loose and complete, so the US cart is the cheaper way in. A complete US copy means the case, cartridge and manual.
