About ClayFighter

Sticks and stones might make him groan, but clay really ticks him off! Bad Mister Frosty is the name, and action is the game. Fists and feet will fly (and other parts) as Frosty and his friends smack it out in head-to-head fighting action. ClayFighter is a fighting game released for the Super NES in November 1993 and later ported to Sega Genesis in June 1994. The game is a parody of Street Fighter. In 2009, the Genesis version was re-released on the Wii Virtual Console.

A funny claymation fighter aimed more at laughs than at depth.

This is the Genesis port of ClayFighter, built by Ringler Studios and published by Interplay in North America in 1994 and in Europe in January 1995. It is a parody of Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat, with a circus theme and claymation-style graphics made by photographing and digitizing clay models.

GameFan's preview said Interplay had carried over much of the Super NES version's excitement, including the voices. Looking back in 1997, Computer and Video Games said the older Super NES and Mega Drive versions were fun but weak in long-term appeal.

How the Sega Genesis version differs

GameFan said Interplay managed to port over much of the excitement of the Super NES version to the Genesis, including the voices.

Computer and Video Games later recalled the Super NES and Mega Drive versions as fun to play but weak in long-term appeal.

Before you buy

Among US carts it sits about at the middle. The European loose cart usually costs about the same as the US one, and a complete European copy usually costs more. A cardboard-box edition is priced separately and its loose cart usually costs a little less than the plastic-case copy.
