A good-looking toy-car racer with a stunt focus and a professional soundtrack, and a fair-priced cart.
Hot Wheels Turbo Racing is a racing game from Stormfront Studios and Electronic Arts, released on N64 and PlayStation in 1999, with 40 cars based on the Hot Wheels toys. The N64 version's soundtrack features artists like Primus, Mix Master Mike and the Reverend Horton Heat.
Critics were mixed on the N64 version. Next Generation called it a fun party game, perhaps a bit childish for hardcore racing fans. GamePro said it looked cleaner than the PlayStation version but had less precise controls, while IGN praised how the graphics translated the look of the plastic Hot Wheels tracks into polygons. GameFan called the game itself mediocre, with the bands carrying it.

“The game is quick, but at the sacrifice of rich textures. If you're into Hot Wheels, you at. least have to see it in action.”

How the Nintendo 64 version differs

Before you buy
Low fake risk, and the US cart sits close to the library median on loose price. PAL copies cost more than the US cart, especially complete. A Rumble Pak is supported but optional. Complete copies cost several times the loose price, and sealed copies cost a good deal more again.
