A cartoon platformer in the Sonic mold, worth looking for as a European cart.

Mr. Nutz is a platform game from Ocean Software in which an anthropomorphic red squirrel throws nuts at enemies to stop a yeti, Mr. Blizzard, from freezing the world. The Genesis / Mega Drive version was Ocean's first Sega game, released in Europe in November 1994, and Matt Furniss composed its music. It reached North America only through the Sega Channel download service and was not released on a US cartridge.

The Mega Drive conversion took six months, compared with eighteen months for the Super NES original.

“Mr Nutz comes across more o an experiment of what the machine can do, but if s a pretty slick piece of work, both in presentation and gameplay terms.”

Before you buy

There is no US cartridge to buy, so the European cart is the one to look for. Any US-style cartridge of the game is a modern reproduction or homebrew cart. Among games with no US cartridge it sits below the middle. A complete copy means the case, cartridge and manual.
