About Rocket: Robot on Wheels
First-time Nintendo 64 developer Sucker Punch Studios jumped onto the scene with a highly original 3D platformer. The design philosophy behind the title is simple -- rather than build the platformer around the main character, the software house opted instead to focus on the interactivity of the 3D environments he travels. To that end, Rocket employs an advanced physics engine which allows the main character, a lovable unicycle-based robot named Rocket, to travel and experiment with colorful, platform-esque worlds with realistic gravity and inertia. Every object has its own set of lifelike attributes that must be "weighed" into consideration when solving puzzles.

A physics-driven platformer, and one of the pricier cartridges of its era.
Rocket: Robot on Wheels is a 3D platformer from Sucker Punch Productions, published by Ubi Soft, in which you control a robot named Rocket in a cartoony theme park. Its puzzles are built on physical properties such as mass, inertia and friction. Sucker Punch's founders had left Microsoft to form the studio and chose to make a game for the Nintendo 64. It came out in North America in November 1999 and PAL regions in December 1999.
Reviews were split. One review called its realism well worth any gamer's time, while another found its interface far more challenging than its puzzles. Nintendo Power's twentieth-anniversary issue ranked it the eighteenth best Nintendo 64 game of all time.

“In the first level alone you'll play tic-tac-toe with a chicken, race in a dune buggy, and design your own roller coaster. That's more gameplay variety than some developers put in an entire game.”
“Sucker Punch should be proud; it seems, finally, that it's not only Nintendo and Rare who can produce excellent 3D platformers.”

Before you buy
This cart sits well above the library median, so fake risk is moderate: ask for a photo of the circuit board, which is the reliable check, because a cart that boots proves nothing. PAL copies cost about the same as the North American cart. A complete copy costs about three times the loose price, and sealed copies cost more again.
