A rental-only update of a poorly reviewed claymation fighter, now priced above every other cartridge in its group.
ClayFighter: Sculptor's Cut is the updated version of ClayFighter 63⅓, Interplay's 1997 claymation fighting game. It came out in North America on May 15, 1998, and Nintendo's own listing describes it as available only for rental at Blockbuster Video. The cartridge is 128 megabits.
The original game it revises was not well liked. GamePro called it a laundry list of what not to do, and a Computer and Video Games item in September 1997 called it abominable. GameFan's October 1997 review of the original was much warmer. The title is a joke on the 64 suffix common to N64 games and on the film Naked Gun 33 1/3.
How it was made
Developed and published by Interplay Productions. Development of the original game began on the 3DO M2 before it moved to the Nintendo 64.
Before you buy
This is a North American release only, and loose it sits above every other game in its group, with a complete copy several times dearer again. The fake risk is medium: a reproduction of this cartridge has been reported, and no list of tells for it has been found. At this price, buy it graded, or ask for a photo of the board before paying; a cart that boots proves nothing.
